NFL 14 week 1-3 synopsis

So it's been a while.  Thanks for all who watched my live-tweeting during the Colts-Eagles game.

So let's dive into this.  Week one the Colts got themselves destroyed at Denver by Peyton Manning.  Manning, was, well... Manning.  Denver's defense was great.  We really didn't play that bad.  Denver was just that good.  I predicted it.  We embarrassed them last year in Indy.  They were embarrassed in the Super Bowl.  They were going to play for a vengeance, and they did.

Week 2 was a different issue.  We were better than the Eagles.  We played better.  We should have won.  The only thing is, we can't beat the Eagles and the Zebras.  The refs cheated us.  They got one TD off of a pass interference call that was crap.  Their receiver grabbed a fist full of jersey of our cornerback, and that was somehow pass interference on our Corner.  That was crap.  Then they got an "interception," that wasn't, and should have been pulled back for a penalty.  We stopped them, and they gave another bad call that kept that drive alive and gave them another TD.  So their "last second game winning FG" should have never happened.  They should have been down 14.  It was crap, and that game should not count.  Man I hate the Eagles.

This week, we did well.  Ok, that's an understatement.  We had 30 points and Luck had 300 yards of offense in the first half.  We spanked Jacksonville, plain and simple.

Rest of the League:
Tom Brady is a chump.

RG III got hurt.

Tony Romo is the worst QB in the NFL this year.

In other words, not much has changed from the last couple of years.

A little personal

Last week my depression went into overdrive.  It's tough.  I'm not seeing much "fruit" here.  It's tough to come to this church and face the feeling that I'm on my own.  You'd think after feeling like that my entire life, I'd be used to it, but I never really escape it.

This week, we had a family visit with small kids.  They seemed to like it here, which is good.  But I was told "You won't get people to staff the nursery."  In other words, the church wants young families to come, but not provide anything for these young families.  They just want to pad their numbers without the cost.

Moreover, I'm very lonely, especially when I'm around people.  The guy who arranged for this job and was supposed to help me never showed when he was supposed to this weekend, which is really great when I'm feeling discouraged and ready to quit.

I had a very angry, very confrontational prayer time before getting in my car and leaving.  Most of the time, I want to get in my car and just drive off and find a place to live in the woods somewhere, off grid and away from pressure.  I'm tired of feeling like my entire life is lived out of obligation.  I'm sick of being obligated to other people.  I feel like there are several things that I am supposed to do, but can't because nothing that I do works.  Doors get slammed in my face.  Windows never really open.  I just get trapped, with others staring at me like a performing monkey.  I never get to be myself, because I only get to me who I have to be.

As I talked through with some friends of mine, I'm not even sure who I am anymore aside from what other people force me to be.  So I'm cutting back on some obligations.  I'm trying to decide if ministry needs to be one of them.

Human Trafficking Crisis

If you have been watching the news at all, surely you've heard about this crisis in Nigeria.  One man and his small army has kidnapped nearly 300 girls as they were going to school, and has made a public video saying he is going to sell them as slaves, which probably means in the sex trade.

My question is this: why is this a bag deal?

Don't get me wrong.  This is a big freaking deal.  But why did it take nearly 300 girls kidnapped before it mattered?  Shouldn't ONE girl be unacceptable?  Should this be a big freaking deal everyday?

And believe me, this is an every single day issue.  It happens all over the world.  It happens right here in the United States.  According to Unicef, it has been reported in all 50 states.  Many of them are foster children.

Human trafficking can be forced labor (like migrant workers).  Most often it is the sex trade.  It happens like this: a fifteen year old girl goes to a typical high school party.  After being roofied and raped, she is photographed and blackmailed.  One girl's story, she told that she refused to go back, then her little dog disappeared.  She got a call where she could hear the dog barking in the background, until she heard a gunshot.  Then the caller said, "Your little brother's next."  She went to a hotel room where twenty men took turns, and left her bleeding and broken in the hotel shower.  When the maid came to clean, she called 911.  They took her home, where her parents chastised her for running away from home.

This girl was picked up again the next night, and taken from Virginia to California, where she lived as a prostitute, locked in a fleabag motel, where she was raped daily until a police raid, when she was finally returned home.

I wept as I listened to her tell this story.  What if this was your mom?  You sister?  Your daughter?  Your niece?  Your friend?

The question isn't why the case in Nigeria is a big deal.  The question is why aren't the rest of them?

If you would like to help, I have recommended and will continue to recommend International Justice Mission.  www.twitter.com/IJM, or www.ijm.org

I told you so

Yesterday, I wrote about how Dems have a racist streak in them as a general party principle.

Today, I write because they decided to back me up.

Sec. of State John Kerry, (who according to IQ test is the dumbest presidential candidate of my lifetime) went out and made anti-Semitic comments.  He compared being at war against Muslim extremists to apartheid.  South Africa was a completely different situation.  In South Africa, white oppressed blacks.  In Israel, it is the terrorists doing the oppression of both Palestinian and Israeli.  They are seeking to exterminate everyone from the face of the earth, like Americans, white people, Israelis, even other Muslims.  Israel can and should defend themselves from terrorists.  We should support our allies, not our enemies.  But that would be a novel concept in this White House.

A federal judge struck down Wisconsin's voter ID laws, again believe minorities incapable of getting a photo ID.  Again, leftists believe minorities are too stupid to get a drivers license or other form of ID.  Told you so!

Then Representative Bennie Thomas of Mississippi went further.  He went with the pat "Republicans are racist" calling conservative Clarence Thomas an "Uncle Tom."  Thomas, and many of his party, believe that Justice Thomas, Col. Allen West, and others are "traitors to their race" (similar language used by Hitler to motivate white supremacist) for stepping out of party lines.  Free thought is outlawed in favor of the willing enslavement to those who historically fought against their rights.

He also said that no president has ever been treated as badly as Obama.  Really?  W. Bush was regularly burned in effigy.  Clinton was impeached.  Regan, Kennedy, and Lincoln were shot!  Recent polling says that 8% of Americans "believe that ObamaCare is working."  EIGHT PERCENT!  Opposing ObamaCare doesn't make you racist.  It makes you right!

LA Racist

So, I'm sure you've heard on the news by now about the owner of the LA Clippers telling his former mistress that she's not allowed to bring black people to his games.  He doesn't want "them" at his games.

In the illegally recorded conversation, the ex-mistress asked Mr. Sterling about his black players.  He said, "I provide food and clothes and jobs and games for them.

Does that sound familiar?  It should.  He basically looked at his players and said, "You didn't build that."

That's right!  Sterling is a DEMOCRAT!  Despite the fact that the Dems always point to conservatives and cry "Racist!  Racist!" they have people over and over again with racist issues in their own party.  Like when they claimed that voter ID laws discriminate against African Americans because "they're too stupid to pass the driver's test."  That was an interview with CNN.

Sterling also has received not one, but TWO NAACP lifetime achievement awards.  He donated to them and to the Obama campaign.  Why would a racist do this?

It's the secret democratic belief that non-whites are inferior, therefore they need a boost up from the white guys.  That's the reason behind the things that they do.  They cry out "racist" to anyone who doesn't do that, because they can't conceive of a white person not being like them.  They use cash and legislation to mask what they actually believe.  They can't even imagine the words of the constitution saying "All men are created equal."

Sterling, Reid, Biden, and many others in the democrat party believe this.  So do Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.  They quote Dr. King and spit on his memory.  This isn't an isolated incident, but par for the course for the Democrat party.  Again, remember it was Democrats who opposed Abolition and it was Democrats who beat Dr. King and others.

I can't stand racism.  And I hate the fact that they are getting away with it.

Double downs and blaspheming

I hope everyone had a nice Easter.  Easter, in case you didn't know, is the holiday where Christians celebrate the fact that Jesus rose from the dead after dying for our sins.  He proved he was the son of God, and provided forgiveness for sins and hope of eternal life.

Unless you're Al Sharpton.  Al (I'm particularly using his first name as a sign of disrespect) has been up to no good.  After admitting to being an informant (which could be considered a violation of the "confessional" privacy, much like doctor-patient or lawyer-client confidentiality).  He was forced to be an informant because he tried to purchase crack, like an idiot.

But now he decided to add another charge to his file: blasphemy.  He said that President Obama "has been crucified and resurrected."  I know that some claim Obama is the new Messiah, but this is going a little too far, don't you think?  Especially on Easter?  Especially from a "reverend"?

I don't think Al Sharpton is worthy of reverence.

In the meantime, Harry Reid didn't want Al to have all of the attention.  He decided to call the ranchers and anyone that agreed with them "Domestic terrorists."  He repeated it a few time just make sure no one thought that he had spoken out of turn.

Nidal Hassan, who yelled "Allah Ackbar" before killing 13 people and injuring more than 30 more, was called "workplace violence," despite using the same cry suicide bombers use moments before their attacks.

Mass murder?  That's sad.  Wanting your cows back?  Threat to our nation!  We should stomp out anyone who likes beef immediately!

Let Bloomberg be the Judge!

Former New York Major Michael Bloomberg said recently "When I get to heaven, I'm not waiting to be interviewed.  I earned my way in.  It's not even close."

Funny, I didn't know Bloomberg was God.

I thought God made the decisions as to who got into heaven?

Even funnier, it isn't close.  You didn't earn it.

That's not a judgment about him.  The Bible says "There is no one righteous, not even one."  It also says, "Anyone who has broken any part of the law is a lawbreaker."  In other words, if you have ever done ANY sin, EVER, then you can't earn it.  You're either pure or tainted.  There is no in between.

Tomorrow is Good Friday.  Sunday is Easter.  The whole reason for this weekend (and incidentally all of creation) is that none of us has or can earn our way in.  So God sent Jesus, His only Son, to die as punishment for our sins, and rose from the dead so we would too.

Jesus said elsewhere that if we rely on how good we are, we won't make it.  But He will give us His righteousness.  Think of it like Him paying our cover charge to get into the most exclusive club ever.

So Bloomberg, you can rely on your goodness.  I'm taking His.

Threats from Harry Reid

Did you hear that Harry Reid is threatening people?  It's true.

If you've not been watching the news, you may have missed the massive problem in Nevada, where the Federal Government walked in and seized this man's cattle off of disputed lands.  The state of Nevada claims the land, and so does the federal government.  So the federal government seized the cattle.

The federal government seized this guy's cattle, then sent in snipers and others which escalated tension.  This led other people (my guess is Arian militia) went in, trying to get things violent, which caused the ranchers to be stuck between two groups.  They ended up negotiating a peaceful settlement, getting back their cows.  It seemed over.

Then Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid opened his stupid mouth.

Reid said, "We can't have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it.  So it's not over."

He said this shortly after getting in trouble for embezzling money from his campaign to send to his relatives.  How about we go after him for that?

What about people who illegally come into this country and pay no taxes?  He's for amnesty.  So let's go after a man for grazing cattle, but not illegals.

What about drugs?  It is a federal crime to sell marijuana.  But they're making medical marijuana legal in several states and the DC area.  We can't have an American people that violate the law and walk away from it.

What about gun running?  Let's go after Eric Holder for Fast and Furious.

Illegal IRS targeting of conservatives?  We better go after the IRS for that.  Also, there was a story that said that during audits, IRS agents wore Obama campaign buttons in 2012, and told people who they had to vote for.

Election fraud?  Voter intimidation?  Let's go after SEIU, ACORN, and the New Black Panthers.  Of even the guy that they voted for.

Hm... When you put it that way, it sounds like there are a lot bigger problems than cows.  Let's start with those.

What? Who's racist? A history lesson

So, several Democrats made statements about racism.  Congressman Israel said that he believed "a significant portion of the Republican base" is racists.

Let's do a little history lesson here.  Abraham Lincoln, signer of the Emancipation Proclamation, was a Republican.  Those that went against him?  Democrats.

When Dr. King was going around, Republican officials stood with them.  The people turning fire hoses on the crowds and arresting them?  Democrat governors.

Republicans believe that all men were created equal.  Democrats believe things like "Voter ID laws are discriminatory.  Minorities are incapable of passing the exam to get a driver's license, so they will be excluded."  They also believe that minorities are incapable of achieving greatness in our country without a boost from the white man.

The only time I ever threatened a man with violence was when a friend of mine used the "n" word.  I told him I'd kill him if he ever said it again.  I guess that makes me racist too.

Democrats are always the first to point out race.  "He's a black president."  "He's a black quarter back."  "She's a Latina musician."  Most of us don't see race.  We just see people.

Democrats are the ones who look at Col. Allen West and Dr. Benjamin Carson and say "You're traitors to your race" for stepping out of line and being conservative.  Why don't you tell them to move to the back of the bus while you're at it?

Democrats say immigration issues are race based.  For me, I'm not thinking of race.  I just am tired of all those Canadians coming down here to use our health care and steal our jobs.

There is a saying that I think applies to all these democrats: "Me thinks (s)he doth protest too much."  I think the reason they jump on everyone is because they assume everyone else is as racist as they are.

Think about that next time you watch Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, or so many others race bating.

Captain America for President

*** Warning! Contains Spoilers!***

You've been warned.

Ok, so yesterday I posted my review for Captain America: The Winter Solider.  Well worth reading.  Today, I'm going more for the message of Captain America.

Cap learns in the beginning of the movie that Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., commissioned three new helicarriers.  Only these three were linked to satellites.  These satellites took up information on everyone on the planet, things like spending records and who they talked to.  They tracked google searches, text messages, and GPS locations.  In doing so, they were able to compile information on everyone, like who they voted for, or whether or not they would lead people.

Kinda sound familiar, doesn't it?  Not so fictitious, is it?

Then you have this conversation.
Fury- "We're going to start a lot of threats before they even happen."
Cap- "I thought the punishment usually came after the crime."

Cap ends up having to go on the run, hunted be the government, because he wouldn't help them propagate this kind of behavior.  They declare him an enemy, and everyone is hunting him with the intent to kill.

I bet the IRS audited him for being a patriot too.

As it turns out, many of the leaders where secret working for Hydra, who was seeking to bring order to the world.  People, they decided, couldn't be trusted with freedom.  So they decided to push the world to chaos so that they could create order.  They did things like ruined the economy, instituted socialist Health Care, and allowed terrorists to roam free, calling it things like "workplace violence" instead of terrorism.

Apparently Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are members of Hydra.

Remember those helicarriers?  They were sent after people, not terrorists, but those view as true enemies of Hyrda, proponents of liberty.  So they were going to do drone strikes on anyone that might become a leader of people that had values other than their own.

Remember when Obama said that conservatives, not terrorists where the greatest threat to America?  Hail Hydra.

In the end, Captain America was willing to risk and even end his life in defense of freedom.  And he called on others to do the same.  "The cost of liberty is high, but it's a price I'm willing to pay."

Captain America is a conservative (this is something from the comics, especially seen in the Marvel Civil War).  He believes in conservative values like freedom and choice.  As opposed to so-called liberals, who believe in the government and have a war on liberty.

How long until Hydra comes knocking at your door?  Will you fall in lock step, or pay the price?

Hail Hydra, or fight with Captain America.  I know what I'd rather do.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I very much anticipated this movie.  I love Marvel movies.  I love Captain America.  I couldn't wait.  They hype before the movie was even better than the Avengers.  I must say, I enjoyed it.  It's probably overall a better story and movie, but Avengers was more of an adrenaline rush for me personally.  It hurt that aspect of it that I called many of the plot twists ahead of time.  But that said, it was still a great movie, and lived up to the hype.

The movie is about Captain America trying to adjust to living in a new world, where the lines are more blurred than in the old one.  In the mean time, you have this assassin that is running around, who is Cap's equal in every way.  The Winter Soldier was just excellent.  It was as good as a villain as you could hope for in any movie, and there was more villainy beyond!

I don't want to spoil many things, but there were some cameos that I didn't see coming.  Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch look great for Avengers 2.  Falcon (whom they show in the previews) was fantastic.  And they might have shown the back of Colson's head at one point.  I guess Tuesdays Agents of SHEILD will reveal that.

I also want to say that I saw this movie with a girl who had not seen any of the rest of the Marvel Studios series, and she understood it all and enjoyed it.  So even if you're not a fan of the comic genre and haven't see the rest GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

Like, right now.

Go.

What are you still doing there?

Shout out to the mention of Stephen Strange.  Does that mean we can look for a Dr. Strange movie after Avengers 2?  I hope so.  Also, two words to anyone at Marvel.  Black Panther.  Just saying.

Tomorrow I will try to post another review with spoilers and plot info, so you might want to skip it.

Fort Hood, again

Fort Hood got shot up again.  PTSD is apparently to blame.  While I sympathize with mental illness and my heart goes out to the victims and families, I'm sick of the responses.

A man that was fired from CNN for being too liberal, if you can imagine such a thing, made an asinine statement.  I'm so disgusted with him, that I won't even use his name, because he doesn't deserve the publicity.  He said "'If only there'd been a good guy with a gun...' - such crap. This #FortHood soldier/shooter WAS a good guy. Until he turned bad, with a gun."

Are you kidding me?  This idiot thinks that he was a good soldier, but someone having a Smith & Weston made him evil?

If all guns are evil, then by your own words, this man must have been evil before since he used guns as a soldier.  And Cops are evil too.  And the Secret Service.  And your private security.

You self-inflated toilet bug!  How DARE you attack the people that help us every day because they make us safe.

You want a solution?  Here's an idea, to make our military safer, have them do what every other military in the world does.  If they are in uniform and on base, they are armed.  A side arm minimum.  The truth is guns deter crime.  Kentucky is one of the states with the least crime, and the most free gun laws.  The areas with high crime in the US have the strictest gun laws.  That is a FACT.  They claim their crime comes from other places that sell guns, but most of the guns used in those crimes were illegally purchased, like from some guy's trunk.

The so-called nuclear deterrent works.  Bad guys should be afraid of good guys, not the other way around.  Gun laws don't work because criminals, be definition, don't obey the law.

But that's the difference between logic and "liberal" idealism.  Logic examines facts and makes a decision, in this case that more freedom is a good thing.  Liberals hate freedom these days.  And they would never let a little thing like the facts stop them.

Obama's April Fools Joke

Did you hear this one yesterday?  Obama came out and said that ObamaCare is working!  Ha ha!  That's a good one!

After all, you can keep your doctor, your insurance plan, and your premiums have gone down, right?  He also said they didn't make a hard sell, which is why then spent millions on commercials and endorsements!

Oh Obama, such a jokester.  I guess Putin was right about that.  I mean, the way Biden was laughing, it must be a joke, right?

No?  He was serious?

Because I'm paying 4 times the monthly premium I paid before, and my insurance isn't as good.  More people lost their insurance than got new insurance under ObamaCare.  People have less options, higher cost, lost their doctors.

They say if you repeat a lie often enough and loud enough, it will eventually be accepted as fact.

Guess they haven't said it enough yet.

Seth Godin's Tribes

I read a book that I really liked.  The book is Tribes by Seth Godin.  Tribes is a book on leadership.  What it talked about is that the way human beings collect ourselves has changed.  Before, people collected by geography.  If you lived near people, you were one of them.  But the internet, the automobile, and airplane has changed that.  People can collect however they want.  So now, people group with a common vision, or purpose, and behind a common leader.
For example, there is one tribe that I can identify with: Colts fans.  iPhone addicts are another tribe.  Political orientations can be a tribe.  Fans of a certain TV show can be a tribe.  Whatever cause people gather for or thing that they are fanatical about are a tribe.
The thing is that with the advent of the internet, anyone can be a leader.  You don't have to be a king or a factory owner or have any other form of authority.  You don't have to be a certain personality style.  You just have to have a vision of something you want to do.  It can be to help people, or make a product.  It doesn't matter.  Just have a vision that you can get other people to buy into.
Another thing about leaders these day, Godin describes them as heretics.  These are people who broke the "rules."  They just step out and do something differently enough that other people take notice.  They just do the things that other people say won't work, and then other people begin to buy into it.  They just have to be bold enough to step out.

One other compelling description that stands out to me: Godin defines the differences between faith and religion.  Faith is what you believe in.  Religion is how you express that faith.  So for Christians, faith is believing that Jesus died for our sins, and religion is what type of music you sing.  The problem comes when people elevate religion to a level of faith.  Practices are sacred.  If the religion becomes all important, you can lose your faith to protect your religion.  Instead, we should be actively changing our religion because of our faith.  So what practices do you need to change?

Is Noah Worth Watching?

That question has been on the nation's mind lately.

So here is a review from someone who isn't really after the Biblical narrative, but just reviewing a movie.  (Special shout out to my sister for this).

From Green to Red (Special Thanks to Fox News' The Five)

Did you hear this one?  Probably not.  It was discovered that a hospital in the UK was shoveling children into the incinerator.  This wasn't cremation.  This was the incinerator used to heat the hospital.

The media isn't covering this, because they get money from groups like Planned Parenthood, and they don't want to "hurt" the business of murder.  I learned about this story from my favorite new show, Fox News' The Five, which features Five opinion people from across the political spectrum, who discuss the news.  They range from and advisor for Walter Mondale and Jimmy Carter, to a W. press secretary to libertarians.  If you have access, watch it.  It has become one of my favorite shows.

Back to the topic, a woman had a miscarriage and asked for the body of her baby, to give him/her a proper burial.  She was informed that her baby would be thrown into the incinerator, "like the rest of the garbage."

I'm sorry, why is executing McVeigh or bin Laden evil, but an innocent child is garbage?  Why do we wonder while childhood suicide rates are so high while telling them they are garbage, to be burned like the box your Big Mac came in.  Wonderful.

This is disgusting.  The hospital has vowed to stop the practice, but this is too little to late for me.

They've turned Green to Red.

In trying to save the planet and use less electricity, they decided to burn unborn children.  This lady who lost her child would love nothing more than to have one, and other people kill theirs.  It's not just the practice that is disgusting.  It's the principle.  Somewhere people decided that what has become a false, cultish belief that human beings destroy the earth by existing, is more important than humanity.  They'd rather not kill a petunia, so let's kill a few million people instead.

Hey, Auschwitz must have been really green!  Look at how many people they burned?

People who promote, profit from, and practice abortion have blood on their hands.  The Earth was created for us.  God told us to care for it.  He created this wonderful thing to show us Him.  Why worship the creation when we can worship the creator?  This is almost as if you liked a painting so much, you killed the artist.  That is insane.

So is burning innocent babies.  It's insane.  Detestable.  An abomination.  A real-life nightmare.

Obama vs. Putin

Yesterday, Putin re-drew the map of Europe, declaring part of Ukraine as their own country.  Very similar to what Germany did as they started to expand.

To combat this, Obama announced his NCAA bracket picks.

That will show them.

New job, same frustrations

So I started at a new church 2 months ago.  I already have a family that's pretty well going to leave.  Maybe more than one.  Ready to hear why?

I touched the chairs.

We had more than two chairs for every person.  I took it from 86 to 70.  And we average about 42.  Do we really need twice as many chairs as people?  Nope.  This is just dumb.

Think about it this way.  Rather than sit somewhere else in the same church, they'd rather go to a different church.

Which change is more drastic?  Which is harder?

My thinking is that if we give in on this, then they'll really hate it when I start really changing stuff.  I also wonder, what am I worshipping in church, my fat butt, or the God of the Universe?  I know my answer.  How about yours?

Guy Brings His White Girl To Barbershop In Harlem And Gets Hated On By B...

Please watch this. This is personal to me. I've been mistreated because of my race before. Moreover, on both sides of my family, I have members that run the spectrum of race. I hate the fact that some of my cousins, before they were adopted, were told "No one wants you because your black." To me, they're just family. I also love a quote that I heard from my dad, and I don't know who he got it from. He said, "If you don't like other races, don't go to heaven, because the Bible says there will be people of every language, ethnicity, and nation."

Biblical Suicide

Last night, before leaving work, I got a call, informing me that the son-in-law of church members had committed suicide.  I spent a while at their house last night talking to them, crying with them, praying with them.

In that time, I thought of a lot of things about suicide.  I know some groups believe that suicide is unforgivable.  They view repentance as asking God to forgive you.  They believe firmly that if you don't ask forgiveness for each individual sin, then God won't forgive it.

People sure think God is petty.

God is a God of love and mercy.  Mercy isn't Him waiting for the chance to burn us, disappointed when we repent.  God is understanding.  This particular individual was in a car wreck that messed up his brain, a little more than a month ago.  He was also on a medication that had a side effect of suicidal thoughts and actions.  He told the doctor that he was having suicidal thoughts, and the doctor didn't do anything.

This man had a disease.  He couldn't help it.  God is merciful, and I have hope for him.  I won't guarantee his salvation, because God knows this man's heart, but I have hope.

There are several people in the Bible who commit suicide.  Famously, King Saul and Judas Iscariot killed themselves.  They died in their wickedness.  But two others are praised for their faith.  Samson had faith and repented for the first time in his life, and destroyed the enemy temple and was killed with that act.  The other was a servant of King Saul, who was so grieved that their God appointed king had taken his own life, he also took his own.  Yet he is lifted up as an example of faithfulness.

So if you have a loved one who is depressed or suicidal, get them help.  If you have a loved one that took their own life, please don't let ignorant people steal your hope away.  Trust God.  Love Him.  Know that He is faithful, even when we aren't.

Happy Singleness Awareness Day

Sorry it's late.  This is the first time I've made it out of my driveway in days due to snow.

ObamaCare: A personal testimony

So the CBO report has been highly debated.  Are people losing jobs, or are they walking away from extra jobs because they don't need them?

Well, my mother was nearly canned for insurance purposes.  They ended up negotiating to drop full time employees to ensuring the employee only, not their family.  Since my mom is both a widow and an empty-nester, this allowed her to stay.  Her friend Brenda was not so fortunate.  This 60 year old woman is now working the graveyard shift at Amazon.com's shipping center, doing hard manual labor in 10-12 hour shifts just for insurance coverage.  Where's her promised "freedom"?

What the Democrats call "job lock" we once called "having a steady job."

I've recently become employed once more.  But I took a pay cut of 1/4th, and have to provide my own insurance.  My good friend John Thompson is sending me a monthly check to cover that for the next year.  That's a big relief.

That said, my insurance cost before Obamacare was $65 per month.  Now it is $237.16.  And since they regulate the market, I was not able to find private insurance any cheaper, because Obama tells the companies what they will pay and what they will cover, as well as who your doctor will be.  It's a government HMO.  Thanks for that.

Another thing that changed in the law is that now, I have to have maternity coverage.  You know, in case I give birth.  Now, if I knocked a girl up, she has to have her own coverage.  This won't roll over to her.  Nope.  This is in case I give birth.  I also have to have pediatric dental coverage.  You know, to cover the dental care for kids that I don't have.  And I am required by Federal Law to purchase this.

Now here's the fun part.  When I went to get private health insurance, I was required to buy this separately.  But when I tried to do this, I was asked for my child's name and Social Security number, which I can't provide because I don't have a kid.  So it is ILLEGAL for my to buy what I am LEGALLY REQUIRED to buy.

All that was done so that I was federally required to buy directly from HealthCare.gov.

So much for my freedom.  Thanks President Obama.
