New Shows

Hey guys, I just wanted to review a couple of the new shows on this season really fast.  They are in no particular order.

Revolution.  NBC Monday nights 10PM Eastern.  This show is really interesting (which you'd expect from Jon Favreau and J.J. Abrams).  The basic premise is that the power went out, worldwide.  They don't know why, and they can't get it back on.  One man might know, but he gets shot and his son kidnapped by the evil Militia, which took over after the collapse.  The guy's daughter is the main character, Charlie.  Charlie goes and finds her Uncle Miles and sets out to rescue her brother Danny from the bad guys.  Very worth a look.

Vegas.  CBS Tuesday nights 10PM Eastern.  Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis.  Need I say more?  Yes?  Ok, but that should be enough.  It's supposed to be the real story of Vegas, controlled by the Mob in the 60s.  It's just interesting.  Plus, no one can scowl like Dennis Quaid.

Last Resort.  ABC Thursday nights 8PM Eastern.  Starring Andre Braugher (a good pick for this intense of a show) and Scott Speedman.  This is about the crew of a submarine who received what may have been falsified orders to start a nuclear war.  When they try to confirm the orders, they are attacked by their own sub.  So, they take their nukes, grab a small island, and set up their own country.  The show seems ok (though I did not appreciate them introducing a character by having her strip and jump in bed).  However, it's trying to compete with Big Bang for ratings, so I'm guessing it won't last the season.

Elementary.  CBS Thursday nights 10PM Eatern.  This one... it's hard to say.  I might need to see more to determine if I like it.  It needs to do something to define itself as not just another show like Monk, the Mentalist, Psych, Perception, and other crime dramas that have that one really smart guy that figures everything out by himself.  I'll wait to see if it holds my attention.
